This year is off to a decent start with some new features and a lot of cleanup. Previously, I made use of a lot of libraries that ended up causing more issues than I had liked (bundle size, weird dropdown behavior, etc.). I spent a great deal of time cleaning all those out to optimize the site so it loads faster. Bundle size of the main app has been cut nearly in half, and a lot of components I had to dynamically load are now on by default, which should help. I will keep removing things as we move throughout the season, as the steps I took in the Winter no longer seem like the best path forward.

Goodbye Merch Tab

Our affiliate partnership for the merch tab with Vivion Blue failed since we were not able to move inventory — so I instead have just doubled down on attempting to get Patreon donations to keep the service running. The dashboard component now takes center stage, and some Patreon-specific features such as WOTD nominations now exist.

New Features

Waifu Personality

Character personality profiles now have their own dedicated section. Users can view and suggest personality traits and descriptions directly on the waifu page, editable via inline textarea in suggest mode.

There are also new fields available, users can suggest values for hair color, eye color, personality, MBTI type, archetype, age, measurements, and more. New suggestable fields include romaji name, alternative names (also known as), personality, and description. Personality and description fields are editable via inline textarea in suggest mode.

High-contribution users with 500 or more points get auto-approval when filling in empty fields. Community points are awarded.

Waifu Quotes

Users can now submit memorable character quotes with source attribution. Quotes have a heart/trash voting system, and each quote shows who submitted it.

Waifu Abilities

You can now track character powers and abilities with descriptions. Each ability shows who submitted it, and abilities display inline on the waifu page with labeled form fields for accessibility.

Expanded Age Timeline

Age timelines are now available, allowing users to add age dimensions against their source material (such as 18-24, Season 1).

Waifu Relationships

A new visual graph editor lets you view and manage character relationships in an interactive node-based layout. The system supports 23 relationship types with asymmetric inverse tracking — so if Character A loves Character B, Character B automatically shows “loved by” in return. This covers mentor/student, parent/child, and many more.

Regular users can submit relationship suggestions for review, while editors can commit changes directly. A dedicated moderation page lets reviewers process pending suggestions with a full audit trail including status, reviewer, and timestamp.

Waifu of the Day

Patreon supporters can now nominate a Waifu of the Day for a specific date, with a 48-hour cooldown between nominations. This is available directly from the waifu page. Nomination history is visible on the Submissions page with upcoming and past badges, and historical records are preserved.

Seiyuu Favorites

You can now favorite voice actors.

News Commenting

This will now connect to your MyWaifuList user to make commenting easier.
